EU amended the certification requirements for certain foods of animal origin for human consumption

On 29 July 2024, the European Commission published the Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2020, amending the certification requirements for certain foods of animal origin intended for human consumption. The main contents are:


(1) A new certification template for Commission Authorisation Regulation (EU) 2023/905 should include the words that the signatory, fishery products of aquaculture origin or fishery products derived from live bivalves/live echinoderms, etc., have not taken antimicrobial agents for growth promotion or yield enhancement or contain antimicrobials;


(2) To amend Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/2235 by deleting the notes (5) and (6) to Part II.3, Part II of Chapter 12 (Model 'NZ-TRANSIT-SG');


(3) Transitional requirements: until 3 December 2024, authorization to enter the European Union shall continue to be obtained for the consignment of certain products of animal origin intended for human consumption with certificates issued before 3 September 2024; Before 30 April 2025, for the consignment of certain categories of animals and products of animal origin intended for human consumption, certificates issued before 30 January 2025 shall continue to obtain EU accession authorisation;


(4) This Regulation shall enter into force on the date of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. This Regulation is binding on all Member States and directly applies to all Member States.
