On November 15, 2017, the National Health and Family Planning Commission made a public announcement on its official website, and announced 4 varieties of additives with expanded use scope as food flavoring substances of 2-Acetoxy-3-butanone and food additives of β-cyclodextrin, etc., and conducted interpretation on the announcement.

The use scope of β-cyclodextrin was expanded to other candies (limited to pressed candy) (food category 05.02.02) other than gum based candy in this announcement; The neotame was approved to be used in instant rice and noodle products as sweetening agent (food category 06.07) to adjust product taste in this announcement; The propylene glycol alginate was approved to be used in fermented flour products (food category 06.03.02.03), bread (food category 07.01), pastry (food category 07.02), baked food fillings and surface slurry (food category 07.04) and other bakery products (food category 07.05) as thickener, emulsifier and stabilizer to improve the sensory characteristic of the product in this announcement; The phosphoric acid (wet method) was approved to be used in sugar technology as processing aids for food industry (food category 06.07) to improve clarification effect in this announcement.
