On September 25, 2019, the State Administration for Market Regulation publicly solicited opinions on the Announcement on Prevention and Control of Risk of Contamination of Oils and Alcohols by Phthalates (Draft).
The deadline is October 25, 2019.
The announcement states that the content of bis (α-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) and dibutyl phthalate (DBP) in liquor and other distilled spirits shall not be higher than 5 mg/kg and 1 mg/kg, respectively. The maximum residue of DEHP (excluding liquor and other distilled spirits), diisodecyl phthalate (DINP), DBP (excluding liquor and other distilled spirits) in oils and alcohols shall be 1.5 mg/kg, 9 mg/kg and 0.3 mg/kg, respectively.
