Foodmate News: According to the unqualified food and cosmetics information released by China General Administration of Customs from January to June 2020, Foodmate statistics the situation of unqualified food during the first half of 2020. In the first half of 2020, the national customs detected 836 batches of food that were not qualified for safety and health and were not allowed to enter the country, which was 4.7% less than the 877 batches in the first half of 2019.

Judging from the data released every month, in June, the largest number of unqualified foods were detected, with 174 batches. The specific monthly quantity of unqualified food is shown in the figure below:
Statistics show that these unqualified foods come from Afghanistan, Argentina, Austria, Australia, Pakistan, Brazil, Belarus, Belgium, Iceland, Germany, Russia, Ecuador, France, Philippines, Costa Rica, Greenland, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Netherlands, Canada, Madagascar, Malaysia, the United States, Mongolia, Peru, Myanmar, Mexico, Nigeria, Norway, Japan, Sweden, Switzerland and more than 50 countries or regions.
Statistics found that in the first half of 2020, the reasons for these foods that were not allowed to enter the country were mainly due to unqualified labels, detection of animal diseases, failure to provide certificates or qualified certification materials as required, inconsistent cargo certificates, excessive use of food additives, and sensory inspection unqualified, microbial contamination, failure to obtain inspection and quarantine access, impurities, contamination/corruption, excessive pesticide residues, over-range or over-limit use of nutritional supplements, product mildew, heavy metals or other pollutants over-standard, unacceptable content inspection and quarantine composition and other issues, as well as a small number of foods that expired, carrying harmful organisms, unqualified packaging, non-edible substances detected, unregistered enterprises, and excessive moisture.
Ports of entry for non-entry foods include Beijing, Dalian, Fuzhou, Gongbei, Guangzhou, Harbin, Haikou, Hangzhou, Hangzhou, Hefei, Hohhot, Huangpu, Jinan, Jiangmen, Karasu, Kunming, Manzhouli, Nanjing, Nanning, 30 in Ningbo, Qingdao, Xiamen, Shantou, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Tianjin, Urumqi, Wuhan, Xi'an and Zhanjiang.
The General Administration of Customs stated that these uncleared foods have been returned or destroyed at the port. In addition, Foodmate reminds consumers to pay attention when buying food: 1. Check whether the product has Chinese labels. Please do not buy foods without Chinese labels on the outer packaging. 2. Look at the inspection and quarantine certificate. The certificate is a "pass certificate" for imported food to enter the circulation market. Consumers can request the certificate from the distributor. Please do not buy food produced overseas without this certificate. 3. Consume through formal channels.
