Newcastle disease is an acute and highly contagious infectious disease of chickens and turkeys caused by the Newcastle disease virus, often showing sepsis. The disease is a mandatory notification disease of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) and is listed as a type of infectious disease in the "People's Republic of China Entry Animal Quarantine Disease List". Chickens, turkeys, guinea fowls and ducks are all susceptible to this disease, with chickens being the most susceptible. Mammals have strong resistance to this disease, but humans can be infected with symptoms of conjunctivitis or flu.
The No. 88 announcement published by GACC concerns the prohibition of direct or indirect import of poultry and related products from The State of Vidin in Bulgaria. Sending or bringing into Bulgaria birds and their products from the state of Vidin is prohibited. once found, they will be returned or destroyed. Any poultry or its products found on an entry vessel, aircraft or any other means of transport from The State of Vidin of Bulgaria shall be put under seal, and shall not be unsealed during the period of stay or operation in the territory of China without customs approval. All wastes and slops shall be disposed of innocently under the supervision of the Customs and shall not be discarded without authorization.
