The Russian Federation Veterinary Plant Service reported on September 14: On September 10, 2020, within the framework of the 9th meeting of the Standing Working Group on Russian-Chinese Veterinary Supervision, Phytosanitary and Food Safety Cooperation, the Russian Federation Veterinarian and the Plant Health Supervision Bureau and the General Administration of Customs of China held the second round of video negotiations on bilateral plant product import and export issues.

According to statistics, during the period from January to August 2020, Russia's agricultural trade volume with China reached a new level of 3 billion US dollars, mainly including fish and seafood products, meat and meat products, and cereal products.

The Russian side has made a commitment on the inspection and quarantine of imported fish products that China is concerned about. The two sides will negotiate on the export of Russian live animals, pork, poultry, fish products, dairy products and processed meat to China.

Regarding the export of Russian meat products to China, the two sides clarified after discussion: In the future, China may import pork from areas where African swine fever does not occur in Russia, approve the list of cattle offal to China that does not include the risk of bovine spongiform encephalopathy, and expand the list of Russian poultry meat and dairy export enterprises to China (8 poultry meat producers and 6 milk powder producers were added).

In addition, China will expand the list of companies exporting pet products from Russia (exempt from inspection) to China by the end of September.

During the negotiation process, the two parties discussed the possibility of Russian-Chinese information system integration to realize the electronic delivery of veterinary certificates of animal-derived products, and the need to strengthen mutual visits between scientific experts and laboratory operators.

The staff and business representatives of the Russian Embassy in China and officials of the Federal Fisheries Agency participated in this event.
