Russia suspends imports of a series of foods with prohibited ingredients from China

 
On October 11, the official website of the Russian Federation Consumer Rights Protection and Public Welfare Supervision Agency reported that a series of Chinese foods have been found to have prohibited ingredients and suspended to import to Russia.

The notification pointed out that corn genetically modified DNA and soybean genetically modified DNA were found in corn freeze-dried noodles, corn vermicelli, corn flakes, chocolate cream egg desserts, and biscuits with surprise toys. The prohibited content in some samples even exceeded the standard by 4 times. In addition, there is no information on the content of genetically modified ingredients in the product description.

The notification stated that "in order to prevent the Russian people from suffering from large-scale non-communicable diseases (poisoning), the entry of the above products will be suspended from October 11, 2021 until there are other instructions."

The notification added that the situation is under special monitoring by the Russian Consumer Protection Agency.
