On November 17, 2021, the Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) issued Notification Circular 179-21, which developed berries, melons and leafy vegetables primary production and processing of food safety measures. FSANZ mainly compares the current situation of the primary processing industry in the three industries of berry, leaf, melon and vegetable, the combination of regulatory measures and industry self-discipline, and industry self-discipline. It believes that the most appropriate choice is the combination of regulatory measures and industry self-discipline. The main contents include:

(1) Strengthen farm management in three aspects: chemical management, microbiological assessment, and food safety plan;

(2) Develop three primary production and processing standards for berries, leafy, and melon vegetables to meet the minimum food safety requirements required;

(3) Formulate corresponding industry operation specifications to strengthen industry self-discipline.

The above measures aim to strengthen farm food safety management at the primary processing stage, introduce national unified food safety standards for each industry in the berry, leaf, and melon vegetable industry, and cooperate with the industry to formulate guidance materials to help companies implement national unification Require. The feedback period for this announcement ends on February 9, 2022.
