Chile plans to formulate hygienic requirements for imported bee products

On November 19, 2021, the Chilean Bureau of agriculture and animal husbandry (SAG) issued a consultation document to formulate hygienic requirements for imported bee products. The main contents include:

(1) Product scope of application (royal jelly, bee pollen, propolis, beeswax);

(2) Hygienic requirements for epidemic diseases of bee farms in the country (place) of origin, including non-European bee larva putrid disease and hive beetle disease epidemic areas recognized by OIE;

(3) The competent authorities of the exporting country shall supervise and manage the bee farms and formulate epidemic situation monitoring plans;

(4) Bee products exported to Chile shall be free of bees or their larvae and other impurities;

(5) Product packaging container and transportation and storage requirements;

(6) The veterinary health certificate and relevant requirements for official inspection at the port shall be attached at the time of import.

The feedback period of the consultation document is up to January 18, 2022.
