On 6 May 2022, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) issued document 10.2903/ J.EFSA.2022.7137, in accordance with the request of the European Commission, the EFSA Panel on Nutrition, Novel Foods and Food Allergens (NDA) has been asked to give an opinion on milk osteopontin (bmOPN) as a novel food (NF) under regulation (EU) 2015/2283. Maximum use levels of 151mg/L are proposed for infant formula (IF), subsequent formula (FoF) and ready-to-use dairy products for children under 35 months. The panel concluded that it was safe as a new food under the proposed conditions of use.
