In the first quarter of 2022, experts at the Russian Federal Bureau of Consumer Rights Protection and Public Welfare Supervision (Rospotrebnadzor) investigated 224 tons of fruits and vegetables in circulation that did not meet sanitary standards, according to a statement on its website.
In the first quarter of 2022, the bureau inspected more than 38,000 fruit and vegetable samples for sanitary chemical, microbial, parasitic and physical and chemical indicators.
"In the first quarter of 2022, the proportion of fruit and vegetable samples with chemical pollutants that do not meet health standards was 0.59% (compared with 0.41% in the first quarter of last year), of which 0.34% was imported," the bureau said.
People should note that the proportion of samples exceeding physical and chemical indexes was 0.80% (1.51% in the first quarter of last year).
In addition, 1.34% of the samples (2.51% in the first quarter of last year) did not meet sanitary standards for microbial indicators, and 0.19% of them were imported products. The percentage of samples that failed to meet the parasite criteria was 0.11% (compared with 0.15% in the first quarter of last year).
