On 30 June 2022, the Czech Republic issued guidelines on the labelling of alcoholic beverages such as spirits. The main contents are as follows:
(1) Terms and definitions. Description, label, commercial advertisement, etc.
(2) Label requirements. Mandatory information (i.e. the legal name of a food or drink) should be clearly visible, easy to read, indelible, not hidden, not vague; The average font height should be at least 1.2mm; Actual alcohol content expressed as percentage by volume;
(3)Method of expressing the name of the wine product: names forbidden to use, whiskey cannot be added with sugar, whiskey name cannot be used and other requirements; Classification of spirits and mandatory names of 44 spirits; expressions of compound alcoholic beverages and prohibited compound expressions; Examples of correct and incorrect labels.
The guidelines come into effect as of the date of promulgation.
