Australia revised import inspection requirements for sunflower seeds for human consumption

On 13 July 2022, the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry issued a circular to amend the import inspection requirements for sunflower kernel for human consumption with the aim of improving the customs clearance process for this food. Specifically, the removal of the requirement to unpack a container under the supervision of an official biosafety supervisor, and the removal of certain specific inspection items for destination inspection.
The import requirements will take effect on July 14, 2022.
