Carcinogens detected in more Häagen-Dazs ice cream

On August 5, 2022, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) issued a recall notice for two Häagen-Dazs ice cream products imported from France due to the presence of ethylene oxide in the products.
 
The recalled products’are named Häagen-Dazs Belgian Chocolate Ice Cream and Häagen-Dazs cookies & Cream Ice Cream, weights of 100mL and 473mL, Expiration dates are June 8, 2023 and May 27, 2023, respectively.
The SFA has instructed the importer, Frost Food & Beverage (Pte.) LTD, to recall the products as they were imported into Singapore. The recall is still underway.

On the same day, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland issued alert No. 2022.47, recalling specific batches of four Häagen-Dazs ice creams imported from France due to the detection of 2-chloroethanol, a reaction product of ethylene oxide. Product details are as follows:

Currently, ethylene oxide is not authorised for use in food products sold in the EU. Although consumption of contaminated products does not pose an acute health risk, health problems may occur if consumption is sustained over a long period of time. Therefore, exposure to this substance needs to be minimized. Recall notice in the points of sale will be displayed in the store providing the relevant batch.
