On August 17, 2022, Health Canada released NOM/ADM C-2022-3 to determine the maximum amount of total arsenic in fruit juices and pulp beverages.
On April 9, 2021, Health Canada issued NOP/ADP C-2021-2 document, which intends to set the maximum content of total arsenic in fruit juice (except grape juice) and pulp drinks (except grape nectar) at 0.01 PPM, and the maximum content of total arsenic in grape juice and grape nectar at 0.03 PPM, and open for public comment.
No new scientific information were received during the public comment period. As a result, Health Canada has established new maximum levels of inorganic arsenic at 0.01 PPM in fruit juices (grape juice excluded) and pulp beverages (grape nectar excluded) and inorganic arsenic at 0.03 PPM in grape juice and grape nectar in Part 2 of its List of Contaminants and Other Adulterants in Food, effective August 17, 2022.
