On August 17, 2022, Health Canada released NOM/ADM C-2022-2 to determine maximum levels of inorganic arsenic in rice products for infants and young children.
On April 9, 2021, Health Canada issued NOP/ADP C-2021-1 document, which intends to set the maximum inorganic arsenic content in rice products for infants and young children at 0.1 PPM, and open to public comment.
No new scientific information was received during the public comment period. As a result, Health Canada has added a new maximum level of inorganic arsenic of 0.1 PPM in rice products specifically intended for infants and young children to Part 2 of the List of Contaminants and Other Adulterants in Food, effective August 17, 2022.
