Vietnam fresh fruit exporting to Chinese market to adapt to new regulations

Nhandan:Vietnam's Department of Agricultural and Rural Development, the National Sanitary and Phytosanitary Notification Authority and Enquiry Point(hereinafter referred to as Vietnam SPS office) held a meeting entitled "China under the background of 248th and 249th general export of fresh fruit, strengthen the cold-chain food import management" with Agriculture and Rural Development Office of Binh Thuan province on August 19.
 
Vietnam SPS office said the meeting was to help enterprises from Binh Thuan province to grasp timely the agricultural and food exports relating information under the background of strict control the COVID - 19 pandemic, thus adapt quickly and effectively to the new regulations of the Chinese market, and continue to develop this potential large market while GACC’s implementation of the import regulations on the overseas food production enterprise registration (order no. 248 of the General Administration of Customs), the measures for the administration of the import and export food safety (order no. 249 of the General Administration of Customs).
 
China is now Vietnam's main export market for vegetables and fruits, according to the SPS office. The market’s demands for agricultural products is increasing , especially traceability, food hygiene and safety standards, and epidemic prevention provisions.
 
At the meeting, delegates discussed new regulations on agricultural and food export activities in the Chinese market.

Ms Vu Thi Haian, representative of the SPS Office in Vietnam, said that due to the large proportion of the Chinese market, the change of import policy in this market will affect the export activities of vegetables and fruits in Vietnam.
 
Chinese Customs will strengthen the management of food safety and import and export activities. As a result, companies exporting to the Chinese market must comply with the country's new regulations, meet food safety and hygiene standards and ensure product traceability, etc.
