On September 1, 2022, the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry issued a notice to update the import conditions of food samples, including shrimp samples. It mainly formulated the standard permit for imported food samples. This covers samples of food (excluding fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh and semi-processed plant products, raw nuts, whole grains, prawns, salmon, raw meat and raw eggs) and samples of shrimps (not exceeding 10kg per shipment). Valid import licences issued by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry should be obtained before arrival in Australia. The goods shall be sent directly to the approved place of Class 5 upon arrival. Direct or indirect exposure of imported materials or their derivatives to animals or plants is not allowed. The new standard license is a license that applies the general conditions assessed in advance. If the conditions of the standard license cannot be met, the importer is advised to apply for a non-standard license.
