On September 8, 2022, Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries released six proposals to revise six MAFF food standards, specified as follows:
(1) Proposition 550003554, revised MAFF Standards for Canned and Bottled Livestock Products, reference standards was newly added;
(2) Proposal No. 550003557, revised MAFF Standards for Cooked and Dried Fish Products, reference standards, definitions of headless and eviscerated products, and product inspection requirements were newly added;
(3) Proposal No. 550003556, revised MAFF Standards for Carbonated Beverages: reference standards, raw materials requirements (mainly referring to water and sugar);
(4) Proposal No. 550003552, revised "MAFF Standards for Soybean Milk Products" : reference standards, definitions of soybean emulsion and concocted soybean emulsion were newly added;
(5) Proposal 550003555, revised MAFF Standards for Canned and Bottled Aquatic Products: reference standards was newly added;
(6) Proposal No. 550003553, revised MAFF Standards for Canned and Bottled Agricultural Products: reference standards was newly added, labeling requirements (added prohibited labeling content, etc.) and inspection requirements were revised, etc.
The comment period for the proposal ends on October 8, 2022.
