On June 5, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety of South Korea (MFDS) released the certification standards for food production using new technologies and materials such as cell culture. In order for Korea's domestic new material industry to enter the global food market, on May 26, the heads of bilateral cooperation between the MFDS and the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) held a meeting.
The Korea-Singapore bilateral cooperation meeting was held in May this year to consolidate the cooperation system between the two countries on the occasion of the world's first ministerial-level agreement on food control agencies-African APFRAS meeting led by the MFDS.
At this meeting, the MFDS reached an agreement with Singapore, deciding to designate a liaison officer in the field of new material food between the two countries. For the first time in 20 years, Singapore recognized cell culture food in the world and formulated and implemented safety evaluation guidelines.
In addition, the two sides also introduced the new material food safety evaluation system of South Korea and Singapore to each other. For the continuous information exchange between the two countries on new material food, the two countries decided to actively cooperate in international conferences.
