According to the latest report of Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in July 2024, Vietnam exported 62,000 tons of coffee, earning 340 million US dollars in foreign exchange. In the first seven months of 2024, Vietnam exported 964,000 tons of coffee, with an export value of $3.54 billion, down 13.8 percent in exports, but up 30.9 percent in exports year-on-year.
According to the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (VICOFA), until the new crop year starts harvesting in October this year, Vietnam currently has only about 148,000 tons of coffee left for export in the remaining two months of the 2023-2024 crop year (from August to the end of September). Coffee export sources are looking forward to the new harvest season, and coffee exports are expected to hit a record high of $5.5 billion to $6 billion for the full year.
Due to the scarcity of supply, Vietnamese coffee is currently very "hot", while Germany, Italy, Japan and other "giants" have also been in great demand for this type of agricultural products. Due to the small supply, Vietnamese coffee is very valuable, in early July, Hungary sought to buy Vietnamese coffee at a high price of more than $6,800 / ton, and Israel bought Vietnamese coffee at a price of nearly $6,100 / ton.
The president of the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association also said that import prices in Spain, Russia, the United States, Indonesia, the Philippines, the Netherlands, China and other markets have increased by about 30 percent compared to last year. Therefore, these markets belong to the coffee export market of Vietnam with an export value of $100 million.
