According to a Sputnik analysis of Indonesian statistics Bureau data, Indonesia's grain imports from Russia increased nearly tenfold year-on-year to $26.1 million in June.

In June, Indonesia bought about 95,000 tons of grain from Russia for $26.1 million, compared with 4,700 tons for $2.4 million in the same period last year. Meanwhile, both the value and volume of exports have tripled this month.

In the first half of 2024, Russia's grain sales to the southeastern country increased 10 times compared to last year, while exports increased 7.5 times to 782,600 tons and $221.4 million. This is a record level of first-half deliveries on record and almost 80% of last year's total.

Russia's main sales to Indonesia in the first half of the year were wheat (99%), making it the country's fifth largest supplier. The largest exporter of wheat to the country is Australia (1.9 million tons), followed by Canada (1.43 million tons), Argentina (1.39 million tons) and Ukraine (948,000 tons).
