October 24, 2024 - McDonald's supplier Taylor Farms is recalling a portion of yellow onions produced by Taylor Farm Colorado, a Colorado facility, in response to recent outbreaks of E. coli infections among consumers in multiple locations in the United States, according to Food Safety News.

The company said that after testing raw materials and finished products for pathogens, no traces of E. coli were found. Out of an abundance of caution, it still decided to recall the products in question.

At this time, the FDA has not confirmed that onions are the source of the pathogen, but claims that they are being closely watched. The USDA is also inspecting beef patties used in burgers, but health officials say that onions are more likely to be the problem.
