Australia revised test conditions for KhaPra beetle in certain food products

On December 19, 2024, the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) revised the test conditions for KhaPra beetle in certain food products for personal use, travelers, and the mail route. Effective on the date of publication. Key elements:

  

(1) Applies to importers of products for personal use, subject to high-risk import conditions for Botrytis cinerea, carried by international mail or travelers, and mail and traveler inspectors, among others;

  

(2) The scope of food products includes chickpeas, peanuts, dried or dried chili peppers (whole, crushed or ground), rice, beans, etc. for human consumption;

  

(3) Removes obsolete information from warning labels;

  

(4) Adds destruction results for shipments arriving through the mail or with travelers.
