South Africa adjusts import and export levy on raisins

On December 20, 2024, the South African Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development issued a notice to adjust the import and export tax criteria for raisins to apply to all dried grapevine fruits produced, processed, handled, sold, exported and imported into the Republic of South Africa (i.e. raisins, seedless raisins, raisins and currants) at the rate of: 22.4c/kg in 2024-2025, 23.8c/kg in 2025-2026, 25.4c/kg in 2026-2027 and 27c/kg in 2024-2028 (excluding VAT); Mediterranean fly control fees (excluding VAT) are also levied: 17.2c/kg in 2024-2025, 18.6c/kg in 2025-2026, 20.2c/kg in 2026-2027 and 21.9c/kg in 2024-2028.

  

The announcement is effective from the date of publication and has an implementation period of four years. binding and directly applicable to all member states.
