On December 30, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) issued a partial amendment to the "Rules for the Implementation of Laws on labeling and Advertising of food, etc." The main contents of this amendment are as follows:
1. In order to strengthen the provision of nutrition information to consumers, the scope of nutrition labeling requirements has been expanded, consistent with the European Union, the United States, Canada, Japan, China and other major countries: sugar, butter, animal processed foods, etc., have been added to the products with mandatory nutrition labeling.
2. Solid foods with Guarana as the main raw material and caffeine content exceeding the specified standard should also be labeled as high-caffeine foods and strengthen the warning label so that consumers can understand.
3. Frozen food must be labeled with the following warning: "Frozen, do not re-freeze after thawing." However, foods that are eaten immediately, such as ice cubes or ice cream, and frozen foods that do not need to be thawed do not need to be labeled as such.
