According to the monthly notice of unqualified foods and cosmetics by GAC, 218 batches of imported foods and 15 batch of imported cosmetics were found unqualified and refused for entry in September 2020.
Unqualified foods came from 36 countries or regions. Products from Ecuador, 40 batches, were the most, following with Japan and Indonesia.
The foods refused for entry did not comply with China’s laws and regulations. The main reasons of rejection were detection of animal diseases (the most), quality index problems, unqualified labels, over-range or over-limit use of food additives, failure to provide certificates or certification materials as required, etc
Statistics also show that Tianjin Port detected the largest number of unqualified foods, with 81 batches.
Unqualified cosmetic came from Australia, Japan, France and Korea, which were rejected due to failure to provide certificates or certification materials as required, expiration of shelf life, unqualified packaging, etc. Entry ports involved Haikou, Hangzhou, Shanghai and Tianjin.
The above-mentioned unqualified foods and cosmetics had been returned or destroyed at ports, according to GACC.
