On 30 November 2022, the Kenya Bureau of Standards issued a standards notice to establish two food standards, namely, the Breakfast Cereal - Instant Oatmeal Standard (DKS 523-1:2000) and the Breakfast Cereal - Instant Flake Puffed Cereal Food Standard (DKS 523-2:2000). The draft standards include product definition and classification, requirements for main raw materials, hygiene requirements for production and processing, regulations on the use of auxiliary materials and food additives, product safety and hygiene standards, requirements on packaging, transportation, storage and labeling, sampling and testing methods, etc.
The period for comments on the draft ends January 29, 2023.
