On 4 January 2023, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI)  issued instructions to revise standards for packaged drinking water (except mineral water). The main contents are:

(1) To revise the values of total dissolved solids, calcium and magnesium for packaged drinking water (except mineral water) and the subsequent instructions of 21 June 2022;

(2) Extend the implementation date of the above instructions until 1 July 2023 or until the final notice of the Bill, whichever is earlier.
