Kenya set standards for jelly powder, liquid jelly and jelly crystals

On January 9, 2023, the Kenya Bureau of Standards formulated draft standards for jelly powder, liquid jelly and jelly crystals, and the comment period is until March 10, 2023.

 

The main content includes: terms and definitions, general requirements (free of suspended particles, free flowing and no lumps, completely soluble in drinking water when stirred), ingredient requirements (sugar/sweeteners, food grade gelatin or carrageenan, no citric acid, ascorbic acid, allowed spices, etc.) and specific quality standards, raw materials and additive use requirements (tartaric acid, allowed stabilizers and emulsifiers, etc.), hygienic standards and heavy metal standards, packaging and labeling regulations, sampling methods, etc. .
