Moscow, March 27 (SPUTNIK) -- China became the main buyer of Russian linseed in 2022, according to the Russian Agroexport.
In 2022, exports to China accounted for more than half of Russia's total linseed exports. Exports to China increased 49 percent in 2022 compared with 2021.
China is the main buyer of Russian linseed oil, with a share of about 42%. about 15,000 tons of linseed oil were shipped to China in 2022, an increase of 3.7 percent compared with 2021. The center says exports rose 15 percent.
For the whole of 2022, Russian linseed exports increased 46 percent and export earnings increased 33 percent. Linseed shipments increased 31 percent and shipments 36 percent. Russia ranked among the world's top three exports of linseed and linseed oil in 2021, while China ranked among the world's top three imports, according to the ITC Trade Map.
Linseed and the linseed oil derived from it are in high demand around the world and are extremely popular among consumers seeking a healthier lifestyle because of their health benefits and omega-3 content. At the same time, there is a certain demand for linens in the non-food manufacturing industry, including paint, pharmaceutical, soap manufacturing, electrical, leather and so on.
