The East African Community plans to formulate 4 food standards

On June 9, 2023, the Tanzania Bureau of Standards reported that the East African Community (EAC) issued a notification to formulate standards for milled corn products, pasta products, biscuits, and prepackaged cooked beans. The feedback period is until August 9, 2023. The main contents include:


Product terms and definitions;


Composition requirements, general requirements and specific quality requirements, hygienic standards and heavy gold limits (see the table below for part);


Packaging and labeling regulations: product name, manufacturer name and date, ingredient list, batch identification, expiry date, country of origin, net weight, letter storage statement, etc.;


Sampling and testing methods, etc.
