SPUTNIK, Moscow, June 30 - The "Telegram" channel of the Russian Association of Fishery Enterprises, Entrepreneurs and Exporters quoted the chairman of the association, Zverev, as saying that although Russia's fish export to China has increased, Russian fish and Seafood exporters need to develop new commodities for the Chinese market.
According to data from the General Administration of Customs of China, Russia will supply about 274,500 tons of fish products worth US$676.7 million to China in 2022. Compared with the same period in 2021, the export volume increased by 32.9%, and the export value increased by 28.4%.
Zverev pointed out that the growth of exports calculated by weight is less than that calculated by physical objects. Relevant data show that the price of Russian fish products in China has dropped, which has become a market trend.
According to him, for example, the supply of frozen fish increased by 34.2%, while the value of exports increased by 29.3%. The picture was more mixed for crustacean exports, which doubled in volume but increased by 39% in value. Supplies of fillets and other fish products rose by 11.5 percent, while exports fell by 15.7 percent.
According to Zverev, Russian suppliers need to respond to the changing situation by introducing new non-standard products to the Chinese market.
In 2022, the export volume of Russian agricultural products to China will be US$7 billion, an increase of 41.5%. On May 31, the Agricultural Export Center of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture stated to Sputnik News Agency that the trade volume of agricultural products between Russia and China in 2022 will double compared with 2018.
