Norwegian salmon exports to China tripled in the first five months of this year compared with the same period last year

Norwegian salmon rebounded in the first week of July, increasing by 3.36% month-on-month, with the average price per kg of farmed Atlantic salmon rising by NOK 2.97 to NOK 91.2, while in fact, the average price has dropped by 16.31% in nearly 4 weeks. That's down 23.52 percent in the last 12 weeks.

 

2-3 kg heavy salmon is priced at NOK 69.83 per kg, down NOK 2.26; 3-4 kg heavy salmon at NOK 85.78, down NOK 0.04; 4-5 kg heavy salmon at NOK 95.42 , with a price increase of NOK 5; 5-6kg heavy salmon is priced at NOK 107.9, with a price increase of NOK 9.4.

 

In the first five months of this year, Norway exported 17,697 tonnes of salmon to China, with export earnings of NOK 2.46 billion, twice the export volume of the same period in 2022. In Asia, China has been the most important trading partner for Norwegian salmon, and the market demand is constantly changing, and Chinese consumers are increasingly demanding product quality.
