On November 1, 2023, the Eurasian Economic Union published a consultation document on the proposed revision of the Technical Regulations on food safety (TR CU 021/2011), with a feedback period ending January 15, 2024. Main contents:
(1) Establishing the forms, programmes and procedures for conformity assessment approved by a decision of the EAEU Council;
(2) Add production batch definition; The manufacturer shall carry out conformity assessment in accordance with the shipping documents submitted by the applicant within a certain period of time;
(3) Food produced before the entry into force of the regulation must comply with the technical regulations or Alliance technical regulations required by this standard during the shelf life period, and can continue to be sold until the expiration of the shelf life after the revision of the regulations, unless the regulator requires termination;
(4) Identify food rules. Food identification includes product name, visual method, sensory feature method and analysis method.
(5) Label content. Including: manufacturer's name, address, food name, food use, barcode or two-dimensional code, production date, food storage conditions and shelf life, batch, etc.;
(6) The documents required for the national registration of the production enterprise and the requirements for inspection and approval. Enterprises producing food of animal origin (meat, eggs, milk, farmed fish, etc.) need to register;
(7) Conformity assessment of food. Provision of sampling rules for food; Conformity assessment includes: declaration of conformity, national registration, veterinary health inspection;
(8) National registration procedures for foodstuffs. Including: special food (baby nutrition food, baby food drinking water, special dietary food, etc.) and new food.
