On 31 October 2023, the Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) issued Notice 50182, the New Standard for the production, Processing and Supply of foods of animal origin. Compared with the old standard, the main contents of the revision include:
(1) Revise definitions such as periodic declarations, such as periodic declarations, which refer to declarations of conformity of raw materials made within a specified time by institutions that provide animals or animal-based raw materials for the production and processing of food of animal origin;
(2) Update the standard reference animal infectious disease control manual;
(3) To supplement the requirement that the labels of imported aquatic products and their products (excluding edible fish oil and fish meal) should be marked with the scientific name of the species indicated on the official import certificate;
(4) Reduce the frequency of official supervision of honey production enterprises self-verification requirements;
(5) Revision of the requirements for pre - and post-mortem inspection of red meat products.
The new version of the standard takes effect on the date of publication.
