On March 1, 2024, the Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) issued Circular 34746, the new version of the Aquatic Product Processing Code of Practice. Compared with the old regulations, the main contents of this revision include:

(1) Additional capacity and training requirements for processing personnel of aquatic products for human consumption;

(2) Providing that imported aquatic products and raw materials (except fish oil and fish meal) intended for human consumption shall be labeled with the scientific name of the species of origin;

(3) Add "slowest cooling point" and other aquatic product processing terms;

(4) Revise the criteria for the identification and exclusion of susceptible pathogens or infectious diseases in aquatic products. This regulation also applies to the management of the processing of aquatic products for export, with an effective date of March 1, 2024.
