Switzerland proposed to amend food information regulations

On April 10, 2024, the Swiss Federal Agency for Food Safety and Veterinary Medicine issued a consultation notice, proposing to amend the Food Information Regulation, the feedback period is up to July 12, the main amendments are:

 

(1) If foie gras (force-feeding) is slaughtered without the elimination of pain, it must be indicated on the label and the production process must be indicated; imported plant food raw materials belong to endangered plant protection products, must be marked on the label, and indicate the production process;

 

(2) Declaration of origin: food containing 50% or more of the ingredients from non-country of origin must declare the origin of food, food containing more than 20% of animal origin of food ingredients should indicate the animal source and country of origin;

 

(3) All wines, sparkling wines and semi-sparkling wines must be labelled with ingredients and nutritional claims.
