France amended regulations relating to food of animal origin

On April 10, 2024, the French Official Gazette published Regulation No. AGRG2405259A amending the health regulations relating to the production and operation of food of animal origin or food containing ingredients of animal origin, which entered into force by publication in the Gazette. The main revisions include:

 

(1) Updated the description of references to EU regulations on egg products;

 

(2) Added new special case for egg packing plants and egg product producers, which provides for biosecurity measures to prevent and reduce the risk of transmission of disease by vehicles, equipment and containers (used for the transportation of eggs, animal by-products, personnel, or any other equipment identified as potentially transmitting an animal disease or a pathogenic bacterium, such as salmonella), including: arrangements for the circulation of equipment, containers, and vehicles on the premises and the manner in which they are parked, if necessary; the conditions of facilities for cleaning and disinfecting packaging and vehicles used for the transport of eggs and animal by-products; procedures for cleaning and disinfecting means of transport; disinfectant agents used and methods for verifying the effectiveness of disinfectant procedures; operational procedures to avoid cross-contamination, etc.
