Denmark published guidelines on food supplements

On July 2, 2024, the Danish Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries issued Notice 9488, the Guidelines for Food Supplements. The main contents include:


The definition and classification of food supplements (concentrated supplements of minerals, vitamins and other nutritional elements of food, according to the form of liquid, powder, capsules, tablets (tablets) and other products), the general requirements of the product (should comply with the provisions of the EU Directive 2002/46/EC);


Before domestic or imported food supplements enter the Danish market for sale and circulation, information such as the name, ingredients, label, manufacturer or importer should be submitted to the veterinary and food Bureau and recorded, as well as special requirements for food supplement labeling, such as: the name and content of the characteristic nutrients and the recommended daily consumption should be marked, and the maximum daily consumption should be marked in the form of warning, indicating that "the product cannot replace the normal diet", and it is not allowed to imply that the normal or diversified diet cannot meet the nutritional requirements on the label, and the labeling order of various nutrients on the label;

import and export management of food supplements, penalties, etc.

 

The announcement shall take effect as of the date of promulgation.
