On July 18, 2024, the 195th Bulletin of the Thai Government Gazette website published Notice No. 36892, announcing the new version of the food serial number management implementation regulations. Thai food serial number is a specific identification containing food production or importer, registration license number, product characteristics and other information, food importers and manufacturers need to apply for food serial number to the food and Drug Administration before the market, approved before the market can be sold. Compared with the old provisions, the main contents of this revision include:

(1) Supplement some application requirements for the serial number of imported specific food. Relevant specific foods include dietary supplements, royal jelly and its products, milk and other dairy products, pre-packaged beverages, etc. When applying for the serial number of the above foods, it is necessary to provide the product raw material standards, scientific names and specifications, the list of food additives used, health test reports, label samples, etc. At the same time, the labels of the above foods must be reviewed and approved by the official before use;

(2) Revise the requirements for the change of food serial number, and stipulate that the serial number should be reapplied after the change of information such as food formula, overseas food production enterprise name, address or production conditions. This regulation shall take effect from the date of publication in the government Gazette.
