Chile intends to develop regulatory requirements and guidelines for importing products containing animal origin

On July 25, 2024, Chile's Ministry of Agriculture proposed to develop regulatory requirements and guidelines for imports of products containing animal origin, with a comment period ending September 25, 2024. Main contents:

 

(1) Before importing products containing animal origin into Chile, the system of the relevant enterprise must be evaluated, and the documents to be submitted include: enterprise name, address and record number, product name, country of origin, list of ingredients of animal origin, detailed production process flow chart, product risk control measures, documents issued by the competent authorities of the country of origin to prove that the product is suitable for human consumption; The document shall be in the national language, and a Spanish translation shall be provided. The evaluation period is 30 days;

 

(2) The registered enterprise that meets the assessment requirements must be included in the list published by the competent authority when exporting specific products;

 

(3) Registered products are not required to provide a health certificate issued by the competent authority of the country of origin.
