On 10 July 2024, the Indian Ministry of Livestock and Dairy issued an official memorandum (No. (OM) L-11/1/2019-Trade (E-11542)) announcing the delay in the implementation of Veterinary health certificate requirements for imported milk and milk products. The initiative requires veterinary health certificate requirements for imported milk and milk products to take effect from August 1, 2024.

As early as January 2024, the Indian Ministry of Livestock and Dairy stated that the implementation date was July 1, 2024, but due to the request of Indian importers and related traders, the veterinary health certificate requirement for imported milk and milk products was not implemented as scheduled. India requires milk and milk products imported into India from all exporting countries after July 31, 2024 to have a bill of lading, veterinary health certificate and comply with veterinary health certificate requirements.
