Thailand revised import requirements for edible fats and fish oils

On July 30, 2024, the Ministry of Health of Thailand issued Notice No. 37743 and 37744 through the 206th Government Gazette, revising the import requirements for edible fats and fish oils. The main contents include:


(1) When importing edible oil and grease products, the importer must submit conformity documents through the electronic system, including: Raw material information (common name and scientific name of the plant and animal from which the raw material comes), production process, fatty acid composition analysis result report (testing samples from at least 2 different production batches), product chemical and physical characteristics analysis result report (testing samples from at least 2 different production batches, the report should include saponification value, acid value, iodine value, unsaponifiable matter content and other indicators);


(2) When importing fish oil, the importer shall also submit conformity documents through the electronic system, including proof of the location and time of fishing of the raw fish (season), fatty acid composition analysis report (at least 2 samples of different production batches), product implementation standards (if any), etc. The above announcement shall take effect as of the date of publication in the Government Gazette.
