Ecuador plans to formulate health technical regulations on food processing, sales and transportation
On January 5, 2021, the Ecuadorian Ministry of Health issued an announcement to formulate health technical regulations for food processing, sales and transportation. The feedback period ends on February 1. The main contents include:
(1) This health regulation applies to all processed foods processed, stored, imported, and sold in Ecuador for human consumption, and establishes good manufacturing practices for food processing plants;
(2) imported processed food or processed products that are subsequently packaged or packaged in the country must obtain sanitary registration as foreign products, and the packaging of these products must contain the name and address of the foreign manufacturer, including the city and country of origin;
(3) documents to accompany the application for registration: original power of attorney from abroad, to be certified by the Ecuadorian consulate; health certificate issued by the authorities of the country of origin; description of product process; description of batch number 7; primary packaging suitable for contact with processed food intended for human consumption;
(4) In addition to the sanitary registration, the imported processed food of animal origin must also obtain the animal and plant health license before the product can be sold in the country.
