South Korea plans to revise the “Codex of Food Additives” on infant food

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) of the Republic of Korea issued announcement No. 2022-172 on April 13 to revise part of the “Codex of Food Additives”. Some main points are as follows:

1. New standards for the use of Hypromellose (HPMC) in the production of enteric health foods.

2. Revise the composition specifications of 6 additives such as stevioside.

3. Revise the using standards of 71 additives such as calcium silicate for infant food.

4. Revise the main uses of 24 additives such as Guar gum.

5. Revise the composition specification testing method of of 9 additives such as glycerophosphate.

The collection of comments on above revisions will last until June 12, 2021.
