On 11 April 2022, the Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) of New Zealand released the summary report of the Food Residue Surveillance Programme (FRSP) for the sample of year 2020/21. The 2020/21 Sampling year project aims to focus on the non-compliance trend found in the FRSP survey results from 2015 to 2020. 60 samples were selected from the key food categories such as berry, leaf vegetable, fruits and vegetables, 180 samples were tested for 90,099 times, among which 12 samples were found to have excessive pesticide residues. Excluding fruits, the unqualified test results included excessive levels of abamectin, cypermethrin and fluvalinate in lettuce leaves, carbendazim and chlorpyrifos in kale, methamidophos in cucumbers and mercaptodimethur in vegetable seedlings.
