On May 5, 2022, Thailand's Chunghwa Daily reported that Thailand will fully implement ePhyto (paperless) phytosanitary electronic certificates from July 1, 2022, which will improve the export efficiency of Thai products and simplify the export process. Until now, it was only used in 22 agricultural products exported to China. General director of the Agricultural Technology Office said, according to the policy instructions of the assistant secretaries of Agricultural Cooperative Department, the office has completed the work of the use of electronic phytosanitary certificate system with the National Agricultural and Food Standards Agency, customs quarantine authorities and the Global Trade Facilitation Alliance. At the same time, the e-cert authorization system has been improved to simplify the application process for licensing such as import and export goods. In particular, agricultural exporters can easily obtain electronic phytosanitary certificates, reducing the waiting time and expenditure costs. In early February this year, the agency conducted ePhyto tests on 22 kinds of agricultural products exported to China, and will be fully promoted from July 1 this year, namely the use of paperless electronic phytosanitary certification and issuance service system. In 2021, for example, the office issued 409,297 phytosanitary certificates involving exported goods worthing 784,259 million baht. Officials stressed that the electronic Phytosanitary Certificate system is designed to facilitate exporters, reduce damage to process resources, and better meet the need for traceability to support Thai agricultural exports.
