The Japanese affiliate of Mars group, the global confectionery giant, recently announced that 3.01 million Snickers chocolate products will be recalled due to the mixing of glass pieces, including Snickers peanut single pack, Snickers 180G pack and Snickers Mini pack with expiration dates of January 8 and February 5, 2023, and White Snickers with expiration date of January 8, 2023, WWW.CCTV.com reported.  The company said it decided to recall the product from the same production line after a customer complained of tooth loss while eating. After an investigation a piece of glass about 7mm long was found inside it.

Snickers also has had food safety problems before. In February 2016, a German consumer ate plastic fragments in a Snickers bar, Mars said the affected products were made at a plant in Veghel, Netherlands, and recalled some of its Snickers, Mars, Star River and Celebrations chocolates in 55 countries and territories.

Mars China, however, said in a statement that the recall does not affect the Chinese market. The recall will cover 55 countries. Most of European countries have been affected, including Germany, Britain and the Netherlands, but not the United States, where Mars is based.

Mars Group, the parent company of Snickers, was founded in 1911 and is a private family company with a history of more than 100 years. It is also a world well known food manufacturing and distribution leader with footprint in more than 80 countries and regions.  It owns brands including Dove, Snickers, M&M's, Crispy, Doublemint, Extra, 5Gum, Tata, Pim Pom, Sugus, Skittles, Galaxy, Pedigree, Whiskas , Royal Canin, Eukanuba, Mater Foods and BE-Kind.
