based on Indonesia's Food and Drug Authority(BPOM)’s law library website information, BPOM recently issued regulations requirements for heavy metal pollution in processed foods, the regulations is engaged in the processing and food production, storage, transportation and/or distribution of the organization or individual must abide by the provisions of the requirements for heavy metal pollution in processed foods. The regulation sets the maximum limits of arsenic (As), lead (Pb), mercury (Hg) and cadmium (Cd) in 45 kinds of processed food, and sets the maximum limits of tin (Sn) in special food, including infant milk powder, infant food and canned processed food.
The regulation replaces the 2018 regulation on heavy metal Pollution Requirements in Processed Foods and takes effect on April 22, 2022.
